routine infant circumcision

Cahos Rahne VelozaWell same here, I don't take it lightly when outlanders belittle my country & culture. If you find our culture to be barbaric & such keep them to yourselves. Besides, this thread is about one's opinion about circumcision, not bash talking others' beliefs towards the matter. If someone believes it's good to be circumcised then fine, let them have their say, if you aren't for it fine as well, just don't start questioning us of rationality & irrationality, is it irrational that we value tradition over some new way of thinking?Oh and to settle the issue of if our culture dictated us to jump off a cliff & kill ourselves as part of our culture will we do it? The answer is yes, that's how much we value tradition. 8)We don't mourn like you do when someone dies, instead we hold a sort of party to honor the dead.

We eat dog meat.
We have our men circumcised at a certain ageWe celebrate Christmas 4 months in advance up til January. We torture ourselves as penance on Holy Week.We eat Balut, which you westerners refer as "aborted duck embryo".And we are proud! If you can't live with it, then I pity you....
My personal motto is to beat up anybody who eats dog meat or is cruel towards dogs , looks like I won't be allowed or want to go to the phillipines... That's sick, now that is a part of your culture that should be stopped! Circumcision isn't too bad but that's just wrong!
That's sick

XD9999woot! this thread reminded me of my circumcision. After the procedure in the morning, I went back to the hospital in the evening because the "stitching" wasn't done properly. In other words, my pipi got sewed twice in one day. It was a painful experience.. :-X
that avatar is like a perfect expression of your feeling! ;D

vegan?oh please dog meat tastes great I bet you wouldn't eat beef either if you had a pet cow that you took care of and everything. Fact is everything that is meat that you eat was 1.) alive 2.) and killed <- I don't care how you did it, taking a life is intrinsically cruel no matter what, so all that humane nonsense is really just a bunch of crap.the ironic thing here is even though I'm flip I ate dog meat in China so its not just a Filipino thing, I mean we Filipinos think that eating rabbits are cruel since they're cute and fluffy but do we bitch about it to the English(<- generalizing over here don't mind it) ? Nah. Fact is if it can sustain life, you're gonna eat it but since we're getting way out of topic here XD back to chopping of floppy skin
ultrai've always wondered how circumsized men jerk off. there's like no skin, so what exactly are you pulling here??the teacher looks like they're preaching, which i believe you aren't suppose to do because it's not your job, that's you parents job and who ever else is responsible for that.when you think about a womans sex drive, it isn't always on or easily switched on like a man. so it becomes irrational to do this. of course women are curious about things [especially sex], but you could also say the same thing about men.also being uncircumsized you also get to do some amazing pee tricks, like how far you can walk away from the toilet while peeing. i don't know if this is possible for circumsized people though.
1st... you pull and shoot did it before i was cut, still did it the same way till now4th... I can do that even if I'm circumcised :P

*sigh* so it's now down to bashing other people's cultures ain't it?Well if that's the way you guys feel, then why don't you go ahead & tell the Alaskan folk to stop eating Seal, Walrus & penguin meat why don't you?Or make the Japanese stop eating octopi, sea urchins & shark meat while you're at eat?Culture is relative to those who follow it, as I said earlier. And an outsider can never make the natives change their ways so easily, unless you go & massacre all of them.Oh & thank you sla0ers for logging on, it's hard to put up an argument here on "our" belief structure on my own you know. Man if only Bhatooth & clyffe were here.

buchichuthis is true, however the same excuse is used on many rituals deemed torture and banned here, such as female circumcision. So then the question becomes, why are girls' genitals protected and not boys?
Female circumcision is actual mutilation of the female genitals.
That's why it is banned.

I haven't exactly "left" I've just been lurking around hiding in the shadowswell let's remember the main point of the topic Routine Infant Circumcision, its not whether its useful or not. The reason I believe that RIC should be practiced here in the Philippines is that heck they're gonna do it in 10 to 12 years time anyway so might it as well get it over with while he's still young since circumcision here is more than a "mainstream" thing. If its about a matter of choice I believe as parents they are looking out for the best interest of their child and if they believe that giving him circumcision as an infant, what makes you say that they mutilated their child? They were just looking out for the interest of their child in their own way unless you think that their parents are such assholes that they just wanted to do it for the heck of it. I mean there's also routine ear piercing for female babies but are we talking about that right now? I think we should since it makes just as un"natural" as circumcision? since you're just removing a bit of skin XD

If you can't handle criticism for something, then don't do it. No one in their right mind would actually consider any topic outside the realm of criticism unless they themselves practiced something they got easily 'offended' about. If you believe it, you'd better damn well be willing to defend it.
And if you can't defend it, you'd best be ready to change your mind at the drop of a hat.
If you expect others to 'respect your culture' or 'respect your ways' simply because you can't defend them, then why are you on the debate board. This topic IS about circumcision and that's exactly what I'm criticizing in your culture. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. ::)

The fact is (Circumcision, I don't to get in a terrible mood again if I argue about turds of the bass killing dogs because they think it's their clever little culture) many kids don't want circumcision but are pushed into it by their parents, some stupid culture isn't worth the pain of circumcision in my opinion, get over yourselves, humans have too many cultures as it is, it's like bloody religion, do you think I like the new chav culture in my country, no, I don't, majority isn't always right and cultures cause problems!

Oh please Get over YOURself.
Honestly majority is never right because there's something called the minority. Nothing in the world is right because people disagree about EVERYTHING.What's the major difference between corned beef and dog meat on a plate? NOTHING they taste the same, they look the same and heck they even smell the same. If they didn't tell you it was dog you'd assume it was beef. Just goes with the saying If it looks like shit, smells like shit and tastes like shit, It must be shit.cleaver little culture my ass I find that remark highly sarcastic and condescending.

Why won't your mind change. Because you have your own values and beliefs that stem from where Oh Jesus where... I can feel the answer Oh hot damn your CULTURE and some life experience here and there.

If "Culture" reacts like that sla03rs then eventually you must realize that "Culture" starts anger and arguments, that's why it's a bag of crap! In my opinion dogs are almost sentient beings, do you see gangs of dogs though ganging up on humans that kill dogs? No! If a dog kills a human though, it's get out the gun and kill the dog! I'd tell you where to shove your culture but then that would be against forum rules! And just because i'm not an adult yet it doesn't mean I don't have life experience, it's obvious you need some! Now get back on topic!Cicumcision isn't a benefit and you already know what I think about culture...^

Culture isn't the problem, its the people that believe their culture is the only correct one that causes the anger and arguments. You need to realize that people all over the world have different views on all sorts of issues and that they'll continue to live by their own rules regardless of whether you think that some of the things they do are "wrong".I'm getting tired of the attacks in here, if I see it again, Its not going to end well, so if you would, please do try to keep it civil from this point on.

never said you didn't have life experience, i only said that your belief and value system has been molded by your culture (no matter even if you say you hate it) thanks to what you have experienced in your life up to the present/molding of your parents. You didn't even get the point :|.Why are we even arguing about foreskins, its a floppy sack of skin that serves little to no purpose, had it, never missed it.Should we then argue that people pearl(beading) their wiener in Japan for every year that they are in Jail because they're in the Yakuza. Don't give me BS that they're adults and have their "free choice", if you think about it, its all about peer pressure and them wanting to get the sense of acceptance
Cahos Rahne Veloza

For me having circumcised was both a choice & a force thing. It was a personal choice, because I wanted to follow tradition, and it was forced, because the style or cut of the circumcision wasn't mine to say.And about cultural mutilation & such, so are you saying that the women of an African tribe who purposely overstretch their earlobes with heavy earings "as a beautifying measure", based on their culture bizarre or barbaric?Or how about that Papua New Guinean tribe where women wear rings of neckbraces to elongate their necks, are they absurd?Another is that African tribe whose men, slit their mouths & put round wooden discs in it to alter the shape of the mouthAnd yet another tribe, purposely alter the shape of their teeth to resemble fangs. On outsiders points of views, these are sadistic barbaric rites, but are you really sure? Ask said peoples if said rites are offensive, & chances are, they will say that, that pleases them & it's their way of life.Oh, and about the dog meat thing, if you're thinking we eat dog regularly, you're wrong.Dog meat is usually, rather rarely prepared on special occasions, like when there's a large get together of friends or family. Or during drinking binges, which is the most often occasion & slao3rs is right, unless someone told you you were eating dog you won't be able to tell, as the taste is kind of like beef.

This either says you're being sarcastic, you're being rude or just plain ignorantHere are some links I researched for you to read, so you might be educated:nonoAlso for your information, the "Filipino cut" as we call it is the so called "moderate cut", read the links, but mine is the "German V cut" or the so called "loose cut", but unlike what's on the links, my cut only has the upper part of the foreskin removed with the lower half remaining, making the head look like it has a hood on it.here's my post on the "traditional Filipino way" of circumcision
Cahos Rahne VelozaAs I said, here all boys eagerly await to have a circumcision & it will never change. You might get disgusted or feel outraged, but ask any Filipino boy who's falling in long cues waiting for that communal razor blade to cut off their penis's foreskin & they'd gladly reply "I can't wait". Ask them if they're scared, "No, I'm not because a boy has to be circumcised to become a man". Ask if they don't mind the pain, "That's part of the tradition".I'd like to make your stomach roll with the very gory details of how the traditional Filipino way of giving circumcisions is done, just to enlighten you. First, you are made to pull down your pants & underpants to present your penis (the "patient" must not have a boner for this procedure, no I'm not joking). Then the village circumcisor, again as I said, may or may not be a Doctor will give you a piece of Guava leaf to chew on, this is used later on. Then he makes you sit on this stool that has a small protruding portion where he positions your penis to prep for the procedure. He then pulls on some of the penis's foreskin for removal. He then uses a razor, the kind barbers use on the hair (on that note, Barbers are sometimes the ones who do this rite) & positions it on top of the section of foreskin to be removed. Sometimes the guy has an assistant that helps in the procedure. He or his assistant then uses a wooden tool to tap hard on the razor to cut the foreskin, like a guilotine. Then he instructs the patient to spit the chewed Guava leaf on his freshly operated penis & he's sent off his way. For 2 to 3 weeks, some boys would wear skirts because it'd be painful to wear shorts, Yeouch! As I said, I wish I experienced that ;)
Now tell me who gives arguments with no data resource backing?

If dog meat tastes the same as beef eat a bloody cow instead...
And I think we ought to have a culture debate thread for what we're arguing about, I personally quit on this thread unless someone directly posts at me. Bye
