The Cold Solitude of being an only Child, or the Heated Fury of Sibling Rivalry?
C
Which do you guys prefer, life as an only child? Or dealing with siblings. Both have their own pros & cons but which do you think is the one for you?For me, I really wanted to have siblings as I'm an only son. I wanted to experience the joys & pains of having elder & younger siblings. And when I entered University in College, I had no one who could teach me the ropes, where to & not to hang out, what I should & shouldn't be doing & how to go about the daily college life in general. Plus being differently abled, I had virtually no one to turn to during the bad times, except for my mom, some friends & my cousins.
C
i wanted to be alone, the only child because my mom is like Kyle's mom... "Take care of your brother kyle!", "Take your brother with you kyle!"...... i hate my sister, she get all the good stuff, now shes 21, she cry when she saw a dead rat >.< and she cant even cook.just to add, my sister is 21 and she still looking for her 1st job, while i was 13 when i worked my 1st job....
C
ROFL!Sorry Cal, I can't help but laugh at what you said :DThat's awful, but atleast she isn't like Shelly right?
C
well she doesnt need to be like Shelly, my mom is always on her side. one complain from her and i'll be in trouble.
L
thats the same with my sister.

I preferred the cold solitude over the sibling rivalry since my brother and sister were roughly 9-10 years older than me and going up against that is pretty damn hard at times. :PI think the only bonus I got was that my parents weren't as strict on me.
S
my brother and sister were older than me too(10+ years)
my bro would hold me down and my sister would punch...
plus if I ever hit my sister back.
not only would she kick my ass
so would my brother and then my parents...
that being said after I hit puberty and they were past there primes it was my time to shine.
C
Damn I wanted to experience that, growing up I just always played with myself. Oh & Cartman is wrong, it's not fun playing with yourself all day long ;DGood thing every summer & Christmas breaks my cousins would come over & do stuff with me.
G
I liked being an only child. Children are a handful and anyone foolish enough to have 3 are morons.
V
Well I have technically experienced both:I have three older brothers (You can imagine how much fun that was for an effeminate person, me) and they were CRAP. But then my dad threw my mum out etc. whole sad story's in "What is your worth?" thread. It's just been her and me for ages; Ain't seen my elder bro Jesse in about 6 years, and my other two bro's and dad I aint seen since early last year. I think I prefer solitude, but I miss my brothers sometimes, they're good to me now.
U
siblings because we help each other out. if my life is messed up from drugs, lack of money, etc... you'll have your siblings which should more then likely help you out. but if you don't have any brothers or/and sisters, then you'll need your parents which may not be there all the time to help [they do pass away].it's more then just that though.
V
Aha, you have a point there ultra.I think he's hit one of the most valuable aspects of siblinghood; They're there.
A
I'd rather have siblings, you just become lonely eventually. Unless you sleep around a lot.
V
No one in my family has really ever helped me very much in life. There's no one in my family I feel I can really trust or talk to. As far as I see it, my brothers and sisters and merely dragging down my life, bogging my mind with their useless comments, and breathing my air. I'd prefer them to not exist. I actually can't wait to just live alone where I don't have people screaming in my ears, dictating to me how I should act, and controlling/restricting my life and activities.

Loonylion · #5thats the same with my sister.
Me too, expect my sister is ten years older than me and she did a lot to raise my brother (4 years older) and me, so all ofus are pretty close.
V
I guess it all depends on what you've experienced that determines how alone or with people you'd rather be.I've got a mate who's got a sister, and he calls me brother all the time. I've also got a mate who has a bro n' sis; he can't wait to move out, but he doesn't want to live alone. Shades of grey.Personally I'd live with the two aforementioned friends, given the choice

I have a sister and I find the experience overrated. In retrospect I wish that I were an only child. I'm a loner by nature (or nurture?) and our family isn't that close anyhow. I find comfort in solitude, no one to interrupt my peace. But......to each his own.

I spend my days playing with myself. Great fun.
I have siblings, but my lifestyle means I might as well not exist to my family for more than three hours a day. Which is perfectly fine. Personally, siblings are overrated. One of my sisters is a materialistic airhead who is basically everything I hate about humanity. The other isn't a lost cause yet - I actually spend time with her so she doesn't turn out to be a whore. Brotherly concern and all that.
Having said that, my siblings are useful - they draw attention away from my otaku-esque habits, and are sometimes good to talk to.
