1. Ok backup games and saves2. If not borrow or see if a friend has a original R4 card to lend, PS, it will work on a original R4 card i have one and works fine!The ones from www.r4ds.comI bought mine of a market for £13

I just installed Ysmenu, should I just delete it and do what you've got there?

I'm not really sure what you mean. Ysmenu is working for me and Spirit Tracks is running just as well, just got to the train control tutorial and breezed through it.
