What i'm gonna say is very gross... not for the squeamish! Once, my family went on a gourmet trip to china. On the last day, we went to an exotic animals restaurant. There, a LIVE monkey was brought in kicking and screaming to each table. Its upper skull was sawn off and it was locked to our table with its head upright. BOILING HOT OIL was spooned onto the brain and we just ate it. I puked for hours after that, and upon returning i became an ovo-lacto vegan. My parents actually enjoyed it.

you became a vegitarian :P vegans swear off animal by products and ovo-lacto's animal by products

live... I don't quite get why people like to see animals suffer...

Well, first of all, a lot of people are sadists, and they think that if they kill an animal, people won't do anything to them, as animals aren't as ''important'' as humans which I think is crap.
Second of all, some people don't. Just think of it as a dog eats dog world, if you don't eat, you'll be eaten, was the way things were going millions of years ago, still happening.
And last but not least, some humans aren't even worth of being called scum, like the 1st case, they don't give a damn about the animal being killed as it is ''inferior'' in intelligence to the humanrace.
After thousands of years, the humankind has only evolved one tiny bit when talking about socialism, don't be fooled, maybe we advanced in technology, but mentally, we're still unstable.
Like Einstein said, two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former...

not all spiders are poisonous but then some of things people eat are poisonous but cooking changes the molecular structure of the poison and makes it edible

Foreigners hate? Well.. I am not sure...Maybe deep fried locust? No kidding... it actually taste good in my tongue... crispy crisp. Or a bat blood? Pretty much like tomato juice...Plenty strange stuff that I have tried in my life... and I must say that bizarre food tastes better than it looks.Ah... I know a chef friend of mine from France. He almost puke when I get him to try to eat chicken intestines... saying "HOW can you eat this vile stuff?"... so maybe that is it??I don't eat dogs though... as religion forbids...

cahos sorry if you like this but i hate "pansit" with vegetables and ox tongue bleh (pansit is what we call filopino noodles)
