M$ had to release the Console way before Sony and Nintendo to make the most profit of it. (it was the First third generation console, if anyone forgot about it).
Microsoft is obviously leading in the PC and OS market. Losing market, yes, but still leading. For Microsoft itself, this would be a interesting strategy. For the company, they don't need to waste time in the console wars, since even though Xbox360 did a incredible job (LETS FACE IT, Nintendo and Sony are years on it, I am surprised the Microsoft actually could survive all those years with a good result) and they mix what the Xbox360 gamer wants the most. High end Graphics, which a console that freezes on time will never be able to have. This is also good news for the PC gaming. That seens to get less attention than the consoles.I strange, yet innovative idea from Microsoft. In their own way obviously, but still interesting.
VoidI'm pretty sure Linux usage has remained fairly steady, even if that steadiness is a slight increase. OS X, on the other hand, is fucking skyrocketing (at least here in the states). But how much do OS X users really care about gaming? Or even Linux users for that matter? And I've never met a Linux guy that doesn't have a Windows installation.Windows 7 Home
Windows 7 Professional
Windows 7 UltimateWon't take much to create a Windows "8" "GoPro" Version that also works as a console and a gaming OS. M$ can easily support both worlds.
And don't come with that "no way I will pay it face". There are tons of people paying WAY more than that in hardware, for these people a full fledged gaming OS is just a different investment.
