wifi connection for emulator?

I noticed that on Desmune it has the option of "wifi settings" but when i clicked on it the text said "Winpcap failed to initialize, and so wifi cannot be configured".
This got me wondering: can you actually run wifi on DS emulators? and so, how does it work and is it efficient?Thanks in advance.

and may not possible in the future.It is still unfinished, and the current build is focused more into the windows build.
