ok, i have a couple of ideas for games that i wish to create and i was hoping some help finding an engine suited for these games by this list:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_enginesmegaman: prophecies (third person game like megaman legends, i must be able to talk to other npcs, and interact with items)desolate (i remember playing this on my TI84 calculator. 3rd and 1st person shooter, must be able to interact with items)advance wars: Partial Constitution (turn based strategy, 3d fight scenes)star wars: republic wars (6 direction flight sim/ 3rd person fps)starcraft: hybrid (3rd person shooter/hack & slash)oh btw, can you tell me which 3d modeling program it works best for?

That is available in most engine, if you know how to program. If you're looking for a drag-and-drop solution then good luck!

which is the best for 3rd person/ first person games? can i use 3d studio max? if not, what?

3dsmax would be used for making the models in the game, not for making the game. One of the most popular and well developed open source engines is irrlicht, but you need to be fluent in C++.

You could try the Unreal engine, but you have to skilled as hell.

unreal engine is closed source as far as I know.

But you can create a separate game and pass it as a modification for Unreal, right?
Loonylion

probably, but mods are still confined by what the engine owner permits.

I didn't know that, but the last generation Unreal engine is very flexible and if you're good at modding, you can accomplish great results.

Use Quake.

is it easy to use quake?
Loonylion

do not expect making a game to be 'easy'.

i know that, but is its design simple (ie. easy to understand)
