When will they develop Smell-o-vision &/or taste-o-vision?

gaynorvaderDo you buy replacement smells each time you want to rewatch a movie? Or do you have to keep your TV stocked up with a vast multitude of chemicals in order to allow every smell be synthesised? I don't think that chemicals are really a practical way of providing a smell with what you watch, unless they had teleportation, cold fusion or some other crazy technology.
that's part of the 'expensive and impractical' :)

They have a machine you could put something leather in, and it would kick out a liquid with "the flavor of leather".

Damn, just realised I omitted 'practical' from my initial post. The only practical way I can see of implementing smell/taste for home entertainment is the way I outlined above. Although, if the process of manufacturing chemicals became cheap enough, perhaps it would be practical to expect the end user to buy new ones each time they wanted to rewatch the film.
