What's your game of the year so far?

allkratosHalo Reach will probably get it . Being an FPS and Halo combined.

halo IS an FPS, how can you combine it to itself? yes, i know it has a strategy genre, but it's renowned as an FPS.PS3: God of War 3
360: i don't have one, but i think mass effect 2 should be it.
PSP: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
DS: Dragon Quest IX

So far, Mass Effect 2. I was kinda disappointed that the DLC all kinda sucked, and I beat the game to it's entirety (By that I mean did all the quests and shit) in 30 hours.
But if I had Red Dead, that'd definitely be it.

Ummm...Aren't y'all forgetting one of the most hardcore online console games? Monster Hunter Tri? Anyone? Yes? No?

allkratosWell, just wanna deny that "it's more of the same" argument from haters out there.
Same goes for ME2, it is an improvement over ME which contains several major flaws. There is nothing ultimately original in ME 2 and Sc2. Both are in the end of the day, a sequel. Not a new IP, or a spin-off.How to compare improvements in ME 2 over ME with improvements in Sc2 over Sc? They are both wildly different genre.The only thing to compare here is features and variety.
Starcraft 2 is a game having both robust multiplayer component as well as multifaceted campaign.
The matchmaking system in Sc2 puts others of the same type to shame. It is the first matchmaking system that I found reliable in an online experience regardless of game genre/platform.
ME 2 has a superb single player gameplay but it has no multiplayer at all.
Sc2 has both.

I wouldn't compare any game to its prequel in a game of the year contest, only compare them to other games this year.
Forget me1 and starcraft 1, just compare the actual games against each other.

Then Sc2 in my opinion, just because it has both solid campaign and robust multiplayer. Me2 has better narrative but Sc2 for me is more complete and has more variety in gameplay.

To hell with all that. It's gonna be New Vegas. Well, Vegas will be the best game this year. However, everyone and their dogs will buy Black Ops simply because it says call of duty on it. So, Black Ops gets GOTY, but New Vegas will be the ACTUAL best of 2010.

New Vegas sounds and looks exiting but Obsidian didn't have a goo track record, so I am still on the fence on that one.

Obsidian were the original creators of Fallout (well the founding guys were) they have an alright track record.I'm sure if they weren't so pressed on time, they could of made Alpha Protocol great. It's a game that's highly flawed in the gameplay department because of shoddy shooter elements, terrible pop in, and glitches. But the story line and choice system is actually better than Mass Effect 2.

I know. They were originally known as Black Isle and I've played Fallout 1&2 unlike most modern gamers who only knew Fallout 3 which is different from the originals. Their crown jewel is of course Planescape: Torment-best writing in video game ever.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2 are great games; both developed by Obsidian.
