What's up with my R4i?

I have recently had trouble downloading games onto my R4i, and two in particular are really annoying me:
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future/Lost future
Art AcademyI download the games using the following method
1.Download via the link
2.Extract files in 7ZipThis was previously successful before Romulation stopped doing NDS roms, and now when ever I use this method of downloading, which ever link I use, when I come to trying to play the game, all I get is a blank screen!It's really frustrating me and I would love some help, so please, if you know what is wrong with it, tell me what to do to fix it. It very well could be a bad dump. It's happened before, some links lead to either patched or original(unpatched) roms.

Did you get the latest firmware ?

To be perfectly honest I do not know what you mean by 'Firmware'. My R4 was all set up for me when I got it so I never had to do anything for it, but now it wont let me play those specific games. Could it be the anti-piracy features on those games??

Updating firmware is the key to succession for flashcards.
