Whats the latest R4DS Software?

Hey guys,Would someone mind helping me out? When I power on my DS it says v 1.18 is that the highest for the R4? If not what is?Also, what is 'Kernel'. I got my R4 prepared at the store where I bought it. I'm more of a PSP programmer :).Boba
