Upgrade Firmware?

I currently have a 3DS running firmware under 4.5 (I can't remember what version). I was wondering if I should upgrade my firmware because I don't mind buying games and I want to get some DLC for Fire Emblem. Thanks!

If you don't mind buying games then go ahead mate :)
It's your choice.
