Terrorist: Do they have Human Rights?

gaynorvader
#21
Rights should be given with the understanding that you will only receive them as long as you are willing to accept certain responsibilities, such as not violating other's rights. If you violate someone else's rights, you should be giving up your rights. That is how things should work, a balance of rights and responsibilities. So, should terrorists have human rights? Not if they can be proven to have been planning to take away other's rights.

They can have human rights, but still should be taken care of.

I'll never understand this....but how can a terrorist have human rights, when their main objective is to ruin that exact thing?

of course they do! terrorists are basically people who are using extreme measures to get what they want. what they want is in terms of broad meanings, that is it can be for good or bad. just because a group are using extreme measures doesn't mean they don't have rights.using extreme measures doesn't mean the group is irrational, it may mean that conventional methods don't work for whatever the reasons are.

Think of it like this, would these terrorists care about our rights if we were caught by them? I don't think so.

terrorists are humans and do deserve human rights
however, I wouldn't want to spend tax money for trials, lunches, etc..
it can be spent on much better thingsand at the same time there is a small chance we accidentally caught the wrong person
and we screwed over his life thinking he is a terrorist if we don't treat them properlyso if i had to say do they have human rights, I would go with in exterme cases where they have important information, trying to kill hundreds of people, etc.. their human rights should be disregarded.

Why should terrorists deserve human rights? They've gone out of their way to harm civilians, that should not be condoned. No cause is worth the lives of innocents.

this would prove that you're no better then they are.

sometimes those innocent are also part of the problem. if you refer to the many libraries of movies based on inequality and if you look at the many instances in history, such as racism in america, you often find the innocent just as guilty as those who are committing the crime.

Your joking right? I'm not the one who killed thousands of poeple, and left the people's families suffering for the rest of their lives.
I really can't believe you could post such a stupid and offensive post. Grow up!

Yes, and the victims of racism are the innocents he was pertaining of. The racist are not the victim, they are the terrorist. The terrorist are killng not only their targets, but also those who they dont give a shit, thats why they became irrational.Example: If they bomb a military base because the military is oppresive and unjust then that is rational. Blowing up a mall because they hate the military is irrational.

what about the US when they send missiles and it hits hospitals and peoples houses. would you call that fair and just? innocent people die and this leaves families sad as their love ones are dead.

but those are accidents. if the military wants those hospital gone, it should be obliriated completely but its not, and they actually apologize and make amends to the family.
But terrorist, they bomb places and they even admit it and even plan to do it again, and again. But I'm getting your point. Those that did those are responsible to military courts. And i think those who did those bombings are being relieve of duty and even imprisoned.

Actually, as far as I'm concerned, the American military are little better than terrorists. Innocents are people whom have nothing to do with what the terrorists are fighting against.

Loonylionthe situation we have in the UK is that the rights of the criminal are put above the rights of the victim, therefore prisons are like holiday camps and there is absolutely no reason for them not to re-offend, because prison is an easy, comfortable life. Sure, you can't leave, but you have TV and playstations, computers, 3 meals a day etc. They can't be punished because it would breach their human rights (thank the EU for such a dumb law), and the right of the victim to not be a victim is completely ignored. In my view, those who break the law should forgo the majority of their rights, (or all of them, bar the basics, eg right to life, right to food and right to shelter, for serious crimes).
maybe i should goto UK and become a criminal....

You should! Back in the days, they sent their criminals even to vacation countries. Now they call it Australia and they even became citizens.

A terrorist to some is a freedom fighter to others, Nelson Mandela is a good example.
Of course terrorists should be given the same rights as anyone else when it comes to justice. To treat a terrorist as someone who has less rights than any other person fuels the fires of terrorism and aids the recruitment of new terrorists.
The British government made the mistake of treating people differently under British law in the 1970's in Northern Ireland using what is known as internment: Basically arresting people and putting them in jail because they might be terrorists or might support terrorism without any evidence against those people. This resulted in a huge number of people joining terrorist movements as they saw first hand the social devastation that can occour when the rule of law is broken by the law makers. When the law can no longer be trusted to be just, people will seek their own forms of justice and law. Here is an article on internment although it does not mention that many Loyalist paramilitaries were also interned during this period and this aided their recruitment too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/northern_ireland/understanding/events/internment.stmDark days for the people of Northern Ireland/ Ulster.

would class the troubles in the north differently as the IRA at the time were attacking military targets and so weren't terrorists until recently when they started attacking civilian targets. I still don't think that anyone who commits murder should retain all their human rights.
