tehering an iphone to my xbox 360

i recently jailbroke my iphone 3gs and tried to use it to connect to xbox live
it was successful but it tells me about an update and it hangs
if anyone has a suggestion i would appreciate itbtw i have shit satellite internet that wont even try to connect

...prehaps the satellite is the reason.Though I'm not sure-hopefully someone else can assit.
