got RROD on my old xbox 360 - tried fixingit as many various sites suggesting and noticed that my xbox doesn't even have x-clamps, so just cleaned off all the stuff and reapplied new one - no changes whatsoever still comes up with RROD :(( any suggestions?

If you opened it, you voided the warranty and you will have to pay M$ to fix it.

if they will. They're perfectly entitled to refuse fix it at all because it's been opened by a third party.

Ah, so even if you opened it to take a peeksy they can still refuse. Interesting.
Same with most other consoles. I think they do it just to punish modders

Buy an Xbox 360 Slim... those don't get RROD. Instead they get the RDOD (Red Dot Of Death) so you are pretty much fucked.
I have a Jasper which i bought somewhere around Late 2008.
And to this day it's still alive.
