real web tv
K
is there any website or software that has web tv with real tv stations like nick, cartoonnetwork, and g4?
A
There's ChannelChooser?, google it, my friend uses it. Also theres a program called TVU player or something my friend also uses.

or you can get a tv tuner card, which is probably the better option considering how much bandwidth streaming video uses.
B
I second the TV Tuner card option, but only if you don't have a TV, or your setup is WAY better than a TV. Anyways, if you just want to watch the shows, then download the episodes via youtube/torrents.

i wish i could but i cant install that type of hardware on my computer, so the web tv is my only option
L
you need at least a 6mbit internet connection for decent internet TV...Alternatively there's always USB TV tuners...
K

A
Yeah I don't use it myself sorry. Yeah if you have Windows Media Edition, you can use the program in there which works. Or you can use the freeware option MediaPortal I think, it might run on Linux though. Got all of this from PC User ;)

K

L

E
that tvu programme is realy good, awesome find as usual anand.
now if only there was a programme that had the descovery channels as a stream
A
Really? Well I didn't find it, just have good friends :P
B
Streaming TV/ other web content uses up a LOT of bandwidth I don't have with my shit connection. So, I mainly turn uTorrent on at night and DL my movies/shows from there.

Also if your Internet access is capped i.e. 40Gb/month, be careful so you don't incurr extra charges by your ISP
E
mine is 40gb and its hard to go past that
N
Well different people use the web differently. Personally, I have an unlimited package becuase I download an awful lot of stuff, watch videos online and sometimes play games online. The point is, web TV does eat away at your allowance pretty quickly, especially if it's high quality.
I
I didn't even know that there was a cap to how much you download/upload.
E
Some ISP's put a limit. Then when you reach the limit you have to pay extra (usually). But only some ISP's do that, mines unlimited (thank god).
L
mine limit you to 128Kb/s for the rest of the month if you go over.
