Look for a PSP 1000 or and older 2000 if you can. They will be much better for playing downloaded games.

I would recommend the 2000 (slim) model over the 1000 (phat). The 2000 model has 64MB of RAM compared to 1000's 32 MB of RAM, and not to mention that the 2000 model is more power efficient (i.e. less power consumption which equals longer battery life.)So, if you are seriously looking into PSPs, you should make the 2000 slim model your top priority.

Just make sure it's not a v3 motherboard. They aren't as nice because you can't install full Custom Firmware on them.I haven't had any issues with the 1000 only having 32mb of RAM. It hasn't slowed me down at all. There were a couple games that experienced lag if I ran them as CSO files compared to my brother's 2000, but it's not that hard to decompress them into ISOs.

i would say get a 1000, they work just as well as the 2000, and you can be sure that it's hackable.

so 1000 wont slow down any gaming or anything?

nope, i haven't experienced any slowing down or anything, if there is any it can be fixed by decompressing the .cso into an .iso (like TirithRR said) but that probably wont happen.

I think the biggest thing the 2000 has over the 1000 with the 64mb is running this like irshell... which is an OS-like environment for your PSP that can handle things like file management and even zip/rar extraction. But personally I think stuff like that would be more annoying than helpful.

I have a guide in the tutorial section-and I can provide support-first post is for 1000/2000 series...It's possible to run downloaded games/homebrew on a v3 2000/3000 but it's not permanent....but if it's brand new it keeps the warrenty...If you get a 1000 or 2000 model try my tutorial-first post is for those systems...if you get unlucky and get a v3 motherboard on a 2000, then look towards the bottom post.(I'd post the link-but limited time-just check the tutorial's section-I'm the thread starter :) )

My friend has a hacked psp, was with him when it got done. We went to a place in the city called quantronics and got it done for $35 AUS in a minute or 2. My advice would be to find an electronics store somewhere that sells r4s and get it done there. If they sell r4s you can be sure they won't look at you funny when you ask to hack a psp

Why bother-my guide teachs you to do it yourself-all psp's can do it-just some need patients than other's...especially 3000 models. It's free to-no pandora needed....or if your in victoria I could do it for ya-and give a few games..but gotta pm me-if you read my guide it's not as free (because your getting more than a hacked psp...need for speed anyone?)
