Do you have to modify the PS2 hardware in any way beforre you can pay the games that you can download from this site? ???

Yes, the PS2 cannot play backup games by default. You either need a Mod Chip or a Swap Disc. The swap disc is just a disc you boot up first, then you swap out to your backup copy and it loads the game.

Where do you get the mod chip, and is it easy to fit.Where do you get a swap disc from and does it need to be used everytime before each disc is inserted(the bairn wont be able to do that).

Who is this bairn you keep referring to?Swap discs have to be used each time you put a disc in. Mod Chips have to be soldered in place, usually.

Sorry Tirith, its a Scottish word for child.I thought it was an easier description than Rab C Nesbitts term "WeeUn" LOLI dont think theres that much games available for download for PS2 anyhow, seems all the rage is PS1/PS3/PSP.

I thought was your son's name :DWell for kids there isn't much...if it's a hardcore player-we have metal gear/devil may cry/ps1 games (easier to do) and some resident evil titles. For mod chips-various google searches can lead to a few places-but I use these guys...www.acegamingstore.comThey might be able to send the chip down to where you are-however..it's not easy to do a modchip install on your own-if you can try to locate a "mod shop" near where you are-better to personally deliver it to them and watch them do it-most time spent is 2 hours-normal job can be 30mins-give or take.

It might be...but that'll be hard to find.Mod chipping tends to reduce console life span-and because of the laser inside the ps2 extra care is advised.4x burn speeds a must. And not to bump it around too much...

I would have thought that the younger generation would sell their modded PS2's to get cash to buy Wii consoles,as they like the latest stuff.

I would rather have Sony stuff before Nintendo, but Im not a gamer and my son can only play easy/kids games because of his disability.I would have thought price/graphics etc would be a major factor in who buys what.
As for the Wii,I can see how people would like the jumping and dancing about whilst gaming,so you have to give credit to Nintendo for that...........
