Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box issues

I downloaded Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. I got pretty far into the game, and then saved. The next day, it prompted me to start a new game. Is there some anti-piracy time lock that deletes your save after a certain while?I have a CycloDS with 1.55 firmware.
