Pokemon X Rom on Gateway 3DS

Has anyone tested out the Pokemon X or Y rom on the Gateway 3DS? Soes it work, or does it have an in-game update?I'm thinking about buying a 3DS but am worried that games won't work in the future and that the console might get bricked...
