Pokemon game idea.

S.I.RYou guys can come up with ideas, but know this, there is no need to change what doesn't need to be changed. It's a near perfect style of gameplay.
well stuff like pokemon stadium and explorers of time and darkness came out well

Ok, I wanted an action rpg system, something like the tv show's combat would be nice. However, sad to say, the turn based system currently used is perfected, why change what works? It's like making COD into a turn based stratagy game all of a sudden, the regular would flee.

Which is why it should remain a spin off title...

yougotmail42^ Could you go into a bit more detail about the actual gameplay you're thinking about? Like are you playing as the trainer, the Pokemon, or both?I'm imagining the player running about as the trainer in the main hub (a la Super Mario 64), then releasing up to three Pokemon into a levels, the leader of which would be controlled by the player in the level. The level would include a lot of platforming (double jumping, wall jumping, ground pounding, like in the Mario games) and enemies that are unlocked for your party whenever you defeat a certain amount. Attacking has elements from Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud (I haven't really played Dark Cloud much), you attack in a three hit combo, which can be increased, along with gaining different moves, via level up, and each move/ability is equipped back in the main hub by the trainer (KH). However, there is a speed meter, and you can only attack as long as there is something in that meter. When that meter runs out, you have to wait for it to recharge (DC).Well, that's how I'm starting to see it now, unless you had different gameplay ideas. Also, what is Pokemon Revolution? Is that an actual game? Or were you talking about Pokemon Battle Revolution (which I highly doubt, since PBR totally does not play like a Mario game)? Or maybe that was the name you were thinking about calling this spin-off?... Wow. Coming up with these game ideas is actually pretty fun.
Pokemon Revolution is just a title I made up for the spin-off. Instead of sticking to just how Pokemon revolves around a certain color (e.g. red or gold) and gem (e.g. Sapphire or Pearl), the game would sound more like an event. So back to the way I think the spin off is, I am intrigued with how the characters would interact with each other is all.

Masamune DateNo new pokemon game idea that involves changing the whole gameplay is not going to work.
Except from the dungeon, stadium 1 and 2, battle revolution, gale of darkness, the ameplay was diferent but still great.

In most of those titles gameplay was sort of similar in every way possible. After Pokemon Colosseum, those games just expanded upon what the previous ones already had. Modifications of the recent ones do not necessarily make it any different in style. That's why a spin-off would be a great idea to begin with, aside from all the contemporary ones. The way I see it is that Pokemon deserves to be more explorable and memorable than just your average-day-catch-'em-and-battle-with-'em-type-stuff. I know it sounds like some kind of arcade fighting game, but my thoughts would remain solely with the idea of role playing in a free environment rather than have it turned based.

Because pokemon deserves to be more than just that, is what I think...Of coarse it would remain original, but adding a bit of flavor to it won't hurt one bit if it's done right.

I've got couple of things to say here.
iluvfupaburgersits a good idea, it could kinda be like custom robo arena
I LOVE THAT GAME! BEST GAME EVAH!
Don9aldoIf it was done right it could work. I enjoyed the Dungeon games and they're in a completely different genre from the original.
Although it would be difficult to incorporate a few moves/pokemon. How do you think Magikarp would look like using splash constantly on land.
And flying pokemon would have an unfair advantage.
Magicarp could be trained same way as before by placing magicarp as first pokemon and in the battle change it back (There would be some kind of cooldown before you could change back). As for flying pokemon, I thought they fly only when FLY is used.
Masamune Dategood but it won't be pokemon if you know what i mean. It just won't be the same, plus battle could last forever if your fighting someone eg a friend. The ability to dodge the attack could be a nuisance since they could dodge the moves easily if there skilled enough. It will get rid of the strategy part of the game since if it was like your idea you can't anticipate what moves they're going to use because you don't have the time to do and the game will be pretty high paced. Some water pokemon eg goldeen will have problems on land since its a fish, need to swim to move. Battle areas will be a problem, two small pokemon eg togepi and magby fighting will make it difficult to land hits on a large area because the target has more time to react. Big pokemon will not have a problem in large areas but will have a problem in small areas because they cannot move around the area more. If you have seen the pokemon shows/movies the way they dodge the moves is varied, dodgin moves by jumping on walls they bouncing off.
Pokemons could move little slower and would have some kind of dash (propably used when you press L or R) so they could be able to avoid some attacks, with a little skill of course. It would be a nice fighting based spin-off. Fish pokemons could float over ground (Like in pokemon colosseum or Gale of darkness) and they could get some kind of boost when in water terrain (if fighting area has some water). In Tales of innocence it wasn't easy to dodge some of the attacks.
yougotmail42So basically you want this, more or less: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gewCYNLv5J8
I think it would be an interesting spin-off, but it wouldn't work for all Pokemon due to reasons listed somewhere above.
What about little more like this exept with pokemon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC5Sfpv1TqU
You roam in a field (in this case tall grass) until you get in to battle and then the game acts like a 2D fighter (you do can move in 3D angle by holding R).And about it taking too long to create all spesific animations for every move, They could use some of the animations for two seperate moves. Solution for the rest of the moves is PATIENCE. I would wait 5 years (like for the real wii zelda) or more for an awesome game like this.

It's not really about a matter of time. It's a matter of budget. The longer you wait, the more salary time you have to pay. Sure, all of us can wait five years - but all that five years is going to translate into a whole wad of cash. Rent for the game developers office, salaries, electricity. You may think all this is 'insignificant', but that's actually their investment. The longer it takes to make, the more they pay and the more WE pay.At the end of the day, are they even going to make a profit? That's the big question for them. Companies exist for profit and solely profit - they're not going to risk such a big project when they might not even get a good fan response. Even if they did, guess what most of them will do when the price is high?Yeah, that's right. Pirate it.
