Pokemon Black & White have Video Chat

While we're waiting for Pokemon Black and Pokemon White to come out and play, Nintendo is making sure that the new Pokemon games will also be packing social features that seem to be making a trend in DS games. Japanese mag CoroCoro got the new info on their latest issue, and you can get the goods right here.First is the "Pass By Mode", which is similar in both name and function to Dragon Quest IX's "Chance Encounter Mode" (renamed to Tag Mode for the US release). This feature allows players who run into each other on the streets share content and interact locally through their Nintendo DS.Then there's the live video chat feature, possible only through the DSi and the upcoming 3DS. This feature, called "Live Caster", is an ability that can be obtained in-game. Once you have it, you can chat with up to four friends locally, provided that you exchange Friend Codes first. The feature also works on Wi-fi, but your sessions will be limited to just two friends at a time.

Usefulness? Yes, if you're battling someone from far away, but utter shite if you're actually face to face with each other.

Well, you know how usually you just pay attention to your screen while picking moves, probably not even looking near you when playing, now you can stare at your friend while fighting him while not even taking your eyes off your DS. It's like you're in the same room with the person and you don't even have to take your eyes off your DS if for some reason you need to stare at him. It's like your really in the jetsons and video phone chatting with people, you know, without the phone, and you're in the same room.
