Please help with my R4i

I have a R4i Upgrade but last night when I play Pokemen SoulSilver it's frozen up my screen and when I turned it off and turn it back on it gave me this message "An error has occur". But when I put my R4i to my DS lite it's worked fine. Can someone help me on this matter. I'm really appreciated. Thank you for your help

You don't have the R4i DSi 1.4 upgrade.
