objectdock/rocketdock worth it?
M
never heard of these until i read the thread of post your screen pic.
making xp look like 7 sounds good, just wanting to know the pros and cons.
is it stable?
is it easy to do?
if i dont like it can i just uninstall?
B
yes yes yes

It's really a matter of taste. They're essentially the same as having desktop icons, just more stylish and different to position. That said, I use it on occasion.
L
my experience with all objectdock software is that it slows down the computer HORRIBLY.

Visual Styles (By a simple hacked file in windows) allows you to transform the look of your machine, easily.http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/windows/visualstyle/If you combine this with rainmeter you can gain a fantastic look. Rainmeter is NOT NEEDED, just for people who really want to make their desktop Aesthetically pleasing.

I use mine all the time since I prefer not to use icons, plus it's totally customizable

I second loony's opinion. They tend to bog start-up time badly, and there is a large tendency for people to "misclick" icons, which detracts from the benefits of such docks in the first place. Use a keyword launcher instead, IMO. ( Launchy, windows start menu search, etc. )

Then use RocketDock, it is fast. Starts up fast, and your computer is like RocketDock isn't installed.

I use Fences. If you double click on your desktop, the icons are gone.

I like rocket dock.It clears up my desktop so I have more room.

Fences is nice too, you can sort your icons in groups.

Sorting your computer and having files and subfiles set up according allows less space on your desktop than using a horrible atrocious dock.

I daresay a lot of the bad rep docks get is due to people having eclectic, flashy icons that are like 128px, and the terrible caption fonts. When you're using a nice, clean, simple and CONSISTENT set of icons for your dock, and make it small and unobtrusive, it can actually be a really nice way to work.

I've seen some nice skins (browsing /w/), but they still take up a chunk of space on my screen.

ROCKETDOCK: Makes your PC look like a Mac (not really, it just gives you the botton bar that Macs have)
I just installed Vista Insparite 2 on my slow XP PC and it looks sexy and cool!
M
Nope. The windows 7 bar is not that user friendly and can even get you confused sometimes.

... This is about Rocketdock and Objectdock, not the Windows 7 taskbar or dock...
S
Use Win7 Tiny. Its better than using Rocketdock
C

S
Rocketdock just slows down
