First off all: Romulation is my last hope to fix the problemI use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit and since some days I cant connect to Windows Update, Windows Defender Update and I cant download anythink from the microsoft page. Firefox says (free translated) "Firefox cant open the page" In Windows Update I get the error code 80244019.
I google a long time and on some pages people have trojans on their PCs but my is clean (avast, avira, ad-adware, spybot) and on some other pages stands, that it should help to delete a folder in the regestry, but this folder didn´t exist on my regedit.I hope some of you can help me and if i miss some specific informations please ask!http://www.pchell.com/support/vista_update_error_80244019.shtml

You can't ever use windows update in firefox; blame Microsoft for that. I don't use vista, but I'll look around for a solution

That's probably the problem. Microsoft forces you to use Internet Explorer when using their Windows Update website. And don't worry, if you just use Internet Explorer for the Windows Updates, it will be safe enough. It's when you use IE for surfing pornography and "warez" that the majority of problems happen ;)
S
Thats not the problem, ive got the same with the internet explorer!
C
Not likely but is your copy of Windows legit? That happens to Bootleg copies.
L
windows update has a habit of failing for no reason, when you look up the error code it says something to the effect of 'unknown error'

Yes, its my legal copy of windows, but its not only the problem with windows update, i cant download ANYTHINK from the microsoft page and dont know why! Is there a possibility that it has conflikts with sony vegas 7.0e! I install this on the day ive got the last succesfull update for windows. The installer comes together with a MySQL-Server! (I deinstalled th eMySQL-server right now)
L
mysql won't do anything to vista, and I doubt vegas will either. most likely the last update you got broke something.
S
Do you have the windows genuine advantage application installed? it's required for a lot of updates.
N
You can visit the microsoft website, can't you?
S
I always deinstall the last update, but it dont help. And yes, i can visit the microsoft page and i can surf on it, but when i want to start a download from it, a site comes for ca 2 seconds and than their comes the "page could not open" error!
S
i become a helpful message on my taskbar! Read the first line!
Translated: Windows Vista doesnt support ...
But the problem: I deinstalled the server some days ago and when i want to click on the link it cant open the page
L
ah thats microsoft SQL server, not the same as mysql. Make sure you uninstall vegas media manager
S
Its deinstalled, but it didnt fix the problem
L
check the services to make sure none of the sql services are running.
S
no sql-services running! I think, its not the source of the problem, because i deleated all paths and uninstall all sql-programs (removing the service at deinstall)

Here is a copy of my windowsupdate.log file! The first time ive got this error was on 22.12.2008Maybe now, somebody can help me.http://rapidshare.com/files/181403657/WindowsUpdate.log.html
(can be downloadet 10 times in the next 90 days, if the link doesnt work anymore post it please)
L
are you on a LAN by any chance (i.e with a local update server or a proxy)?
S
I have 2 PCs in my room and go on LAN-Partys ca every 14 days, but i dont want to download the updates on one PC to get it to another. When their is no other possibility i have to reinstall windows! Any way to save the profile from mousometer (sidebar gadget)?
L
I'm asking because the error codes in the log relate to windows server update services and specific proxy software.
