Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adaptor help requested.

When i connect it to my PC it works fine... problem is that when i don't use it for a few minutes it shuts itself down and i cannot connect using my DS anymore.
This problem only occurred when i foolishly updated the program it uses. (the nintendo official one)
I Have tried using different versions and i can't get it to work for long. Also tried using different ports with no results.
Any help is appreciated.Also, my PC hasn't changed between when this worked and this happened so i don't think the spec's are too relevant, but in any case i will put some here.

The device isn't supported no more-it doesn't even work on windows 7 anymore :(My advice-uninstall-reinstall using the latest one (officially) and see how that goes.
