i have no idea how to boot the CD of vista, im posting from the partition of linux.
Y
To boot the CD of vista you need to boot into the BIOS settings.
From there I can't help you.If you want to copy all your files from Windows to Linux you can open the partition of Windows and copy the files from there.
If not I am lost.

how i do the latter thing? and how large is wine compatibility with windows programs?
and i dont know how to boot on the BIOs settings
Y
Wine compatibility with Windows programs is really low.Depending on your BIOS you need to rapidly press a key (F8 if I'm correct...don't take risks because I don't know if it's true though)
D
ill wait for an other answer, also before i select which partition i want i can acess a config screen by pressing F2

Whats new.
Duncan,do you have any type of Vista/recovery disc.If you do,press esc/del/f2 or whatever it says to enter bios/setup and change the 1st boot device to cd/dvdrom.Reboot with the disc in and follow it from there and see if you can repair Vista.Dont format or delete anything if it cant repair it YET

L
does your bios allow you to boot from an external drive, and if so is it set up to do so?

it does has that oen but i fixed it already i foudn the tech support number they instructed me to reinstall vista, and tough i lost my linux partition... i belive, but now its owrking im never making free download maganger download 3 files at the same time ever again
T
I never reformat, that would be my 3rd choice of action.I would use a disc image I prepared earlier, and failing that, would do a system recovery using them discs.BTW,when you think your all set up,run Secunia psi 2.0 beta and see what that says
