Need Help Judging if this pc is good
N
Hello RomU,I have been interested in pc gaming for a while, and I just happened to spot this desktop:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-desktop-8gb-memory-2tb-hard-drive/5814032.p?id=1219194065876&skuId=5814032&st=pcmcat143400050013_categoryid$abcat0501000&cp=1&lp=1It appears to be good from my knowledge of computers, but can anyone tell me if i might be able to play new games like Assassin's creed unity on high or ultra with this rig? I just want to know if this is something that will be usable for decent pc gaming for at least a few years. thanks for your help. (also, for anyone that doesn't know, the specs are under the "specifications" tab on the website)

Are the specs even out for Unity? It should be able to run it regardless. My PC can smash out most games on Ultra and it's only a Phenom II X4/HD 6870.

It's a decent spec. Change it to windows 7 and it should run most things pretty well.Bear in mind that the video memory is shared system memory. While APUs don't suffer from the same problems as other shared memory systems, it does mean you effectively have less than 8GB ram available. You may want to consider upgrading the ram at some point. Additionally, with most systems, the ram speed doesn't matter so much, so long as it is supported, with an APU it DOES matter. Your video performance will be directly affected by the speed of the ram used, so always use the fastest ram the board can take.

Ahh missed the part where it was an APU, I don't think APUs can run many things on ultra very smoothly.

I've never had a problem running anything on mine. I do know that a first generation one struggled a bit with rift on high, but they've improved since then.

Talking about Ultra here, not just running it.
