try calling nintendo and hopefully you still have your warranty but if you dont it might cost a little. if you own a flash cart, i am not sure if it is safe to ship it to nintendo for repairs because they might find out that a flash cart has been used. my info might be incorrect so if anyone knows what nintendo will do tell us.

tou can try pulling it up as far as you can without ripping it out and blow into it, it worked for me.

I found this tip on the internet, it works temporarily but either way, it works.
(from eHow)1.Find a safe place where people cannot see you if you are easily embarrassed.2.Close and turn off your Nintendo DS Lite if it is still on.3.Form a perfect seal with your lips around the broken L or R shoulder button and blow a few times. Take care not to spit on the DS very much. This is to clean out the contacts inside the DS.4.Try out the buttons and see if they work. At this point if the buttons are responsive again then you are good to go. If the buttons stop working again you can repeat Step 3. This fix is not permanent and the DS will eventually stop responding to it.
Either you do that or:
Use a needle to remove the dirt from the inner edges of the R button.
