Movie Making

Alright I'm trying to make some movies using Windows Movie Maker, but when I save the movie and try to watch it, all I can see is black, but the audio is fine
I tried to watch it with VLC, WMP, MPC, I even tried with Quickplayer, but none seemed to workSo I was wondering if anyone have a better movie editor (that's free), cause my WMM just doesn't seem to work

virtualdub is about the the only free one there is.

Is it as easy to use as WMM?
cause I have After Effects but I just don't get how we use it

after effects is not a video editing package. (think of the name, after effects == post-production special effects)virtualdub isnt the easiest program in the world to use, but like I said its about the only free package there is.
