Looking for a good action/adventure game for PSX, please help.

I've been getting rather bored with a lot of the newer, next-gen games with all their snazzy graphics and empty gameplay. I have always been a fan of RPGs and adventure games, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good action/adventure game for the PSX. I'm looking for one for the PSX as I missed out on a lot of game from the PSX era, and the few games I have played have stuck with me to this day.
What I am looking for is a game that would be classified as an action or adventure game, but that also has RPG elements in it as well (i.e. weapon upgrades, skill points, stat points, etc). I guess what I am looking for is a LotR type game, but as far as I know they are only for PS2 and XBOX.
Oh, also any good RPGs that are NOT Final Fantasy games, as I have played all of them :DThank you in advance

every megaman X or crash bandicoot.
Castlevania as well

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is astonishingly good, as for RPG's have a look at Suikoden 1 and 2, Star Ocean 2, any of the Persona games, Pandemonium 1 and 2 was pretty fun and Vagrant Story I haven't played yet but I've heard great things about.

let's see..

Cool you Have Gr8 Taste.

Haha. No one mentioned Alundra yet. I haven't tried the Alundra yet, but I did try it's sequel. I enjoyed the sequel. Currently replaying it again. But most people don't like it as it is a step back from the original Alundra. If I enjoyed it and people said it's bad, then I guess I'll dig the original. They're in no way related, so you can start off with any Alundra game first. In other words, Alundra is THE Zelda for the PSX.

I just wanted to say "Thanks" to all those that have made recommendations and suggestions. A few of these games I have played already, but there are a bunch that I haven't. I plan to give them all a chance.
