Well you could take the hard drive out and try to stick it into a homemade computer///

You say that sometimes the lights do come on then it freezes, can you access the bios while it is trying to boot up? If you can get bios access then change the boot order to boot from CD first. Then try using a live boot disk, like ubuntu or some other linux distro, you can get someone to download one for free and burn it onto cd for you. If linux boots then you have a problem with your operating system, or hard drive.

unlikely, the radio frequencies are present even if the radio isnt there.

just use a magnet. and if your really bored, just drill into the the hdd itself, 3 should do it ;)PS, in the old dos days, there was a program called Kill it , created by _____ crackers, (there is a similiar version of the dos version migrated to windows ui, called Active Kill Disk, though those recreators are charging for it, however there is a trial of it) should you feel the need to wipe everything off the HDD.here are some generic cloners of ERD2005, thats now been migrated to MDOP, however here are some very good next best things to ERD2005.

damned. my laptop just blown a fuse i think. its now officially dead. well, i was using it witht he adapter cause the battery does not hold a charge even for the time and date. so, earlier, i was using it and it just turns off, then after 5 mins of cooling, you can turn it on again and then crash after 15 mins.now, it wont even light the power and it produce a melting plastic smell, so i doubt it has blown a fuse or melted wire... damn... good thing nothing important is in there that i dont have a back up.
