Know of any good pet raising games or simulators?

I'm not talking about pokemon, nor am i talking about nintendogs. Im talking about breeding monsters and such. As a kid my favourite games were games such as digimon world, monster rancher, dragon quest monsters. I am in love with those sorts of games yet i havn't seen any good ones for a long ass time. Anyone know of any? It would be gretly appreciated. Preferably for the nds or pc.

Have you tried Monster Rancher DS?

monster rancher had a bleh combat system already, the ds version is even worse imo and nearly unplayable.

Have you tried Spore for the PC? I've never played it myself, but I hear it's very good.

spore gets too old too quickly imo
