It was my birthday! When is yours?
M
Born2killxYou can do better than that! One person's birthday could be Jan. 1 and the other's could be Jan. 2.
Are the formula related?
This one is challenging...*no wiki mega!!*
B
It's not really that hard. If there are 365 days in a year, how many people would it take to ensure with 100% certainty that there are two people with the same birthday?
M
How about 46?
B
...No. Where did you get that number?Note: It has nothing to do with the formula. It's just a math question. There are 365 days in a year. How many people would it take to ensure with 100% certainty that there is at least one pair with the same birthday?
C
Divide 365 by the population of the people on the Earth for a simple example
Though breeding times for humans are generally lower mid month and in hotter seasons

Easy. 366. 365 (1 for each day), and 1 more to act as a wild card, the wild card matching with any day of the year.
June 2nd, btw.
B
Finally. :PSee? It's not that hard.

Replying to #67
But what if person number 366 was born on February 29th?
So the real answer is 367 to be 100% certain that you'll have two matching birthdays in a group of people. 366 to be about 99.9% sure.
S
mine is auust 17. Even though I can never use it to get out of school (summer lol), I still wish you a happy birthday man!

Read my first post.
Born2killxAnd considering no one has the birthday February 29.
Reading comprehension; work on it.
T
Well then why not just say"Assuming everyone has a birthday in November"*rollseyes*
C
Did I mention breeding times?
B
Don't you remember that February 29 only exists once every four years? I was just removing any variables which would cause people to be smart-asses about it.
J
Anyone know where to post my birthday?
A bit early for it but its July 16th.
M
meganovaHuh?
Are you doing that formula by yourself?
Yes, I used OpenOffice to made that one.
But I also needed the web to back me up.
It's helpful when you can derive such things by your own.
I even wrote a little program to calculate that likelihood.
That's why I know it's higher than 50% with 23 people. :P
C
Getting back to the thread started, my birthday is on December 17.
L
My birthday is September the 18th, and you know what happens four days from then this year? HALO 3 O.D.S.T.!!
