Could somebody please tell me if it's possible to remove that blasted bar for now and for ever?

Like Miros said, way more details are needed. As of now, it's really difficult to diagnose a solution.

it is an intelligent answer. If you don't like microsoft deciding whats best for you, don't use their software. They do not allow you to turn it off.

This. I didn't know anybody still really used Internet Explorer. Considering it's the worst internet browser out there, I don't know of many who are still willing to bother with it.
