You mean to play DS games on your R4 ? Don't you need to just copy the NDS Roms you have to it ?About R4, I think most people say you may need to use YSMENU to play newer games.

why aren't there any theme folder in my _system_ folder i downloaded my kernel(latest) in r4ds.com and when i watched some videos the folder comes with a Cd like file near moonshl
