I need help with Dragon Quest IX (PLEASE READ POST FIRST)

Which skills should I put my skill points as a minstrel into for thief? I don't wanna waste my skill points. Should I put them in fan skills,sword skills, shield skills etc. or just save them up until I reach the job advancement place?

if you like the sword so much, just level that up. Honestly just depends on what you like.
