I have a plan... I think...

So, I spent hours scouring the posts to figure out how to burn a PS download to DVD and then play the game in my PS2 console. I'd like to make sure I got it straight.
PLAN OF ACTION:
1) Buy a ModBo 4.0 (one for me, one for my neighbor for $27 for the 2? is that good?)
2) MISSING PART: INSTALL the ModBo... I expect the chip will come with instructions to install it... will it? Do I need to buy tools? (I read something about soddering?)
3) Downloaded a PS file from this very site and extrated it into 3 files: img, pub, ccd (I've seen a post that deals with other formats I may end up with after decompression so I think I can figure that out when the time comes)
4) Make sure I have all 3 files in the same folder, point to the img file and "burn from image" onto a DVD using my existing Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0 software (I haven't seen any post about this particular burn software... any issues with it?)
5) Put the disk in the chipped PS2 console and ... PLAY?Did I miss anything?
I just want to make sure I have a plan before I start buying stuff... (right now, only my neighbor has a PS2 console... I still need to buy one... which I probably won't do unless I know this works...)
Thanks for the help!

You need a PS1 memory card to save PS1 games

I don't know if its actually possible to play PSX games off a DVD or not. Regardless, don't use programs such as roxio/nero to burn console game images, they dont usually do it right. Use imgburn instead (google it, its free software).

when i was really in to my ps2 i did all this and you can't put ps1 games on a dvd and play them on your ps2 unless they have made a new program or chip in the last two years that allows you to.you can put multiple ps2 games (the cd ones) on one dvd but its not worth the effort i only had to try as my ps2 only reads dvds now and the failure rate is pretty high.

OK, looks like I missed a part here. I missed the part that says that the Playstation file I am downloading from here is for PSX. This, according to a quick Wikipedia lookup, is a souped-up playsation that will play DVD movies as well.
So, if I understand the responses I got back, I can't burn and play the games I can download here in a PS2 console but I can do it in a PSX console. Is that correct?

its not. PSX refers to the original Playstation AND the PSOne collectively. Neither can play DVDs. PS2 can play burned PSX games with a chip, but only if they're burned on CDR discs, not on DVDs.

Oooops... That's why I have "Hopeful" next to my name...I'm not at home right now and I thought the size of the file I downloaded to test this was above the 650MB that a CD can hold. But I think the img file is 470 MB or something like (that's [PSX] Spider-Man_[U][NTSC-U]_[SLUS-00875]) so a CDR would be OK. My bad.So, let's modify my plan here... And we're talking about a PS2 console here.1) Buy a chip and install it. Now I've read some more on that and I see there's a lot of choices. The idea here is to buy something I can install myself, will fit a PS2 console and allow me (my son really) to play the [PSX] games I can download here. Modchip suggestion ?2) Downloaded a Playstation file from this very site and extrated it into 3 files: img, pub, ccd (I've seen a post that deals with other formats I may end up with after decompression so I think I can figure that out when the time comes)3) Forget Roxio. Download/install imgburn.3) Run imgburn (I don't know yet what that looks like but I'll figure it out tonight); Point to the img file and "burn from image" onto a CD (-R, +R, either?) What happens to the other 2 files (ccd and sub?)5) Put the disk in the chipped PS2 console and ... PLAY?How's THAT plan?Post Merge: [time]1247776825[/time]
Trying to be cool and use "features" but... I guess... I don't know what I'm doing... Sorry about the underlining!

CDRs are 700MB actually. +/- isn't relevant with CDs, there's only one kind. CDRWs will probably not work.

Use DVD fab to burn stuff it is the best burner softaware out.you can dowload a trial for 30 days or buy it.I got mine for free though.

it is not. Imgburn does the job perfectly well. software like DVD fab is generally poor.
