Prectorian · #20What happened? Your soldiering rod was bad or was your hand shaky?
Oh well, what's done is done. You'll have to work out an alternative.
Hopefully you have damage the unit itself.
The thin lines of pcb board, melted over heat very easy to do, then again why should effect original games, while no solder ing is needed in them areas , now just get the RED flashing ring on boot .Also I should have used a fine soldering Head . rounded tip maybe .

You know Jhon, I don't dare give suggestion given that you seems to have damaged your last and had to buy another. But if you're certain that you're capable of soldiering them properly this time and don't mind if the new console gets damage if you mess up again. Why not. However I won't suggest you doing that messy method to the chip. It'd be better if you figure out first a way to move the chip and the chip socket to a new PCB card. Find a DIY store to get a PCB that would fit for the chip's socket, or one of those blank PCB board which can be use universally and cut to the size/shape you need. I think you got stores and online stores based in the UK, e.g. Maplin, SparkFun, Kidtronik, BitsBox, etc. Don't know if these stores has branches in your city though.
