I think it wouldn't be fair to other games since the soundtrack to games come from as you said it artists, which we produced by music companies. Though they do have some great music it seem to be quite unfair to games like Mario Galaxy were the sound track was fully orchestrated just for that game.

tarotmaniacI think a huge part of the game is the music. If it has nice background music and all the game will be more enjoyable. A great example is The World End With You on the DS. It had great music which added more fun to the great game.

I actually refuse to play TWEWY because of the music. I do, however, think the train music in Spirit Tracks added a great sense of adventure and the Super Mario Galaxy orchestral tracks gave the game a delightful (albeit a bit frightening) atmosphere of epicness.

Since somebody commented a while back that games using licensed music like Tony Hawk shouldn't be counted on this discussion, so should the Super Robot Taisen Games seeing they do use licensed music from Mecha Animes.
