Genesis Archive Megapacks?!

I downloaded Sonic 1, and there has to be 50 files packed in it. Which is the original and what are all the other ones? Is there some type of guide available to explain what all these abbreviations mean?

That sucks, i usually just end of trying to look for the file that only has (U), (E), (J) at the end, although it can be hard to find.

they are alternate dumps or hacks. The original game is the one with (!) in the name

So many dumps and hacks. I'm scared to download SMB 1 from here then, given you can.
