Actually it was supposed to be "Bartz" (try playing the GBA re-release :) )but the team who made the fan translation changed it to Butz instead. And no, FFV was not first released on the NES/FamiCom, it was released on the Super FamiCom/SNES.

I read somewhere that Error & Bagu were supposed to be a pair that completed a joke about computers having ERRORS caused by Bugs in the system. When the game was ported to the rest of the world they gave Erroru the proper English name "Error" & Bagu's name was not properly translated to "Bug".
