...didn't know that.Hrm, well personally I find 7zip is easyier to learn/use-and trust me-I'm a bit slow on the learning side-if I can learn it but 13 yr brother could (he's on same level as me...and from his school reports he's not in line with other students :( but what I do know is what i learn here).I believe it's the interface that helps me...I never heard or experienced any dramas between the 2 other than using the trial get's on your nerves.

Hmm,indeed WinRar will bug you to pay for it.But I would prefer WinRar.It's better and easier for me.

J-zip is free and really easy to use, just install and it does all your .rar .zip (or whatever other files you set it too open) shenanigans
www.jzip.com/
says that it's based on 7-zip but with improvements ;)

Hey, I can't really say which one I prefer, cuz the only one I truly used was winrar...Yeah, the bugging you to buy is really wear down a person's nerves.PS: Hey, is it true, only if you have the demo version, that after 40 days winar automatically disable itself? I've seen a little message when opening up winrar; it appears beside (evaluation copy) saying: 20 Days to buy a license, I think that only appears after the first 20 days of usage.

After the 40 day trial is over, it'll just keep bugging you to buy it.

i used 7zip to get to restricted files on my school pc :P. i cant tell the difference betwine 7zip and winrar except winrar can compress in a rar format. you use both of them pretty much in the same way.

I have both 7zip and Winrar installed. My Winrar has no nag screens, so I use it mostly. Sometimes though, you need 7zip for files that Winrar won't open. If Winrar tries to say the file is corrupt, many times 7zip will open it without a problem. Both are useful programs that are critical to general PC use for compressed file handling.Too bad for you guys with those Winrar nag screens. I bypassed that noise long ago.

I never had those sorts of troubles..Prehaps it's conflicting-if a file won't open for me 9/10 it's not downloaded correctly (test>shows me the light).Like I said-my winrar had actaully disabled it's self-second install from a different site (not the official one) actually had a better one that stayed on.Meh-too annoying to work with with those dam pop ups.

I find that 7 zip is better, and in your right click menu it puts it into a nice little subsection called 7zip, it doesnt clutter it up with: add to archive, compress and e-mail, extact to... And all the other useless stuff like other file managers- no names mentioned. Also i find that winrar is slightly buggy
