Flashget resuming dl uses up points
G
I paid the $5 to get the 10000 points and got FlashGet so that I could resume broken downloads. Under the Protocol tab of the Options menu, there is a check in the box next to "Send Referrer". Why is it then that after my downloads finally completed, it shows that I had downloaded some of the files four or five times, using up my points? I use the "Alt-Click" method for starting the download.
S
Will look into it later after work. But as a FYI, referrer header has nothing to do with it, we don't use it, all that matters to us is your browser cookies so we can verify that you're logged in.

Thanks for your help. I just downloaded another game using FlashGet, and even though it never stopped downloading (it actually only took one time to download), my profile says that I downloaded it four times and that I now have negative 42 points.Edit: My browser is set to allow cookies

You are using multiple threads to download, that is why it says you have downloaded it four times. Make sure you turn segmented downloading/accelerated downloading 'off' (set to 1 thread/connection)
G
that would explain it. so you have to turn the accelerator thing off then.
L
yep, basically its because our system sees it as you starting the download 4 times.
S
It shouldn't though... We have protection against that, it might have been lost during the recent algorithm update i did, I'll have to check that when I get home. We'll refund your points of course since this one is our mistake.
G
Thanks, and if you can let me know when and if that gets fixed, I would appreciate it. For now I adjusted my FlashGet to only allow one thread per download.
S
I will fix it as soon as I get home tonight, right now I'm on a mobile device so I can't fix anything.
S
Okay I've tried myself with flashget and flashgot and it works perfectly fine with me using 3 threads. I've added in some additional protection that should further prevent it though, so give it a try now.

Thanks for the help. You guys are great. The only other thing that I can think of that could be causing the problem is the network that I am on. It's not my network so I have no control over the settings, but hopefully that is not the problem. I do have one question, though. In the Introduction Guide it says to limit your concurrent connections to three. Now, if I have a download with three threads, does that count as the three concurrent connections that you talk about, or is it three actual downloads? I'm just a little confused by what you mean with that. Again, thanks very much for the service and assistance that you provide.
L
it means 3 connections to our server. Doesn't matter whether its different downloads or 3 connections to the same file, it means no more than 3 total.
