I found this on yahoo:
http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/food-drink/exercise-wont-make-article-huib.htmlSo now were been told not to bother exercising if we want to lose weight! Complete bullshit!
This bit makes me laugh - "Every week she headed to the gym, where she pounded the treadmill like a paratrooper, often three times a week"
3 times a week? no wonder she didn't lose any weight, 40 minutes PER DAY will lose you weight I guarantee it. I burn over 600 calories in 40 minutes. and that just my warm up.Anyway my rant is about these idiots that publish shite like that for people to read, they should be fired.
Its irresponsible and articles like these should be written by someone who knows what they are talking about, not some idiot that did a few hours research in only one area.
Everyone knows obesity is a growing problem and now some people will think exercise isn't worth bothering with.
I hate all journalists to be honest, if it sells they publish it, regardless of wether its true or not.

People should stop making stupid tips to lose weight as people do like it different...And all those crap sites about losing weight are...spam, 'nuff said. They won't help most of the time.But...exercise isn't pointless. I do it everyday (running a few rounds around the big grass field with the dogs) and it helps.I'm sure if I just sat on the sofa each day that it won't help.

It's not about the truth anymore. It's about money.

Not everything. There are some places that are more for the people than money.

Trimming down fat needs exercise, but anyone with a mind would know that muscle weighs more than fat. So you would be trimming up, as opposed to losing weight. But that's sort of irrelevant to this article.

If you bothered with reading the entire article, there's a lot more to his point he was trying to make. This article is saying that exercising with no change in the amount or kinds of food you eat won't do much as far as slimming down and losing weight, and he's exactly right. If you read the fourth paragraph, it explains it.
Although, the title is extremely misleading, which is exactly what 90% of news stories are, the titles are hooks (you know, the kind you were supposed to learn in English class about making people interested).
The best way to lose weight is to both, cut down on the amount of unhealthy foods, and exercise, it's the fastest, and most effective way to lose weight. That being said, you don't have to stop eating junk food all together, that's just ridiculous.

If you bothered to read my title and my post where did I mention food?
It was all about exercise been said that it won't make you slim and the idiot been irresponsible for posting such crap.
Here, a few quotes:
More and more research in both the UK and the US is emerging to show that exercise has a negligible impact on weight loss
That tri-weekly commitment to aerobics class? Almost worthless
From a practical perspective, then, exercise is never going to be an effective way of slimming, unless you have the training schedule – and the willpower – of an Olympic athlete
an exercise regimen… is unlikely to result in short-term weight loss beyond what is achieved with dietary change
The children did 64% more PE at the second school. But when they got home they did the reverse. Those who had had the activity during the day flopped and those who hadn't perked up
What im trying to say is people will read this and think there is no point exercising, that you are better off just dieting if you are going to do anything at all and thats the wrong message to be sending out.

What Nat is trying to say is that people who read this (and, of course, aren't morons) will think that there is no point exercising
unless you combine it with a proper diet. The article claims that dieting is more immediately effective when it comes to losing weight, but proper fitness isn't about one or the other, it's about both.
And as Nat said, exercise will lead to greater muscle mass. As muscle weighs more than fat, at some point you'll start gaining weight rather than losing it. You'll also have to eat more to sustain this development, which is where most people fail as they don't eat healthily enough.

Unfortunately there is quite a lot of people that fall into that "moron" category. And yahoo is available for almost the entire worlds population to read.
Look at those quotes I posted, its basically saying exercise won't help unless you train like an athlete, 3 times a week is worthless etc.
Most people don't have the time and willpower to go more than 3 times a week so will they just diet instead and not bother exercising?
It should be pointed out and made absolutely clear that exercise is important and required for a healthy body.

Nobody's disputing that exercise is important. You're right when you say that idiots are likely to interpret the article incorrectly, but the problem here is that at least initially, you seemed to share that interpretation too.
Since I'm so nice I'll save you the trouble of disputing this.

I used to exercise 5 times a week.Pretty intense stuff too. Low rep high weight.
Dropping weights etc.
I wanted to get huge lol but being naturally skinny I had to settle for muscle definition over large bulging muscles.I have not exercised for two weeks and I look the same. I really wanna start again just can't find the motivation.
