It is a turn based rpg. There is co-op for up to four people LOCALLY. Not online. The only online feature is the DQVC, which is a store with really awesome crap. Mostly alch ingredients for me, but its different for everyone, and stock changes every dayIn co-op, you must have one open spot in your party for everyone who has joined your game (obviously if your world is the host world). All players have control over themselves, so everyone can pretty much just run off in opposite directions if they feel like it. If one player gets into a battle, another player can run to them and join them mid battle and help out. Other than that, it works just like it would in single player, except that guests cannot advance through quests. All gold, loot, exp is kept though.
