The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has filed a case against Adobe Incorporated, claiming that its defective software product was the reason the digitally-altered image of three DPWH officials obviously looked fake.DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said in an interview that after an investigation consisting of top DPWH officials, they have successfully pinpointed out that the software used by the photographer was the culprit in why the photo, now dubbed as the “DPWHere†looked fake.“We cannot let (Adobe Inc) get away with selling defective products†Rogelio said in an interview. “We gave them good money, and we expect their products to deliver what they advertiseâ€.The DPWH secretary also said that filing a case was the only way to restore the lost pride of the agency.“Make no mistake, this is not a public relations stint. This is about restoring the honor of the DPWH†he said. “Before (Typhoon)Pedring, we were one of the most trusted agencies in government. Now we have been reduced to an internet memeâ€.While the agency is fully committed to bringing Adobe Inc. to justice, they are keeping the prospect of out-of-court settlements open.“They (Adobe) should be the ones to come to us if they want to make areglo (settlement). This is not about money alone, you know.†Singson added. “They are the one who caused this, they should make the first moveâ€.Adobe Incorporated, a software company best known for its multimedia products like Adobe Photoshop, was not available for interview at the time of writing. The recent DPWH public relations distater, which involved a “photoshopped†image of three DPWH officials assessing the damage done by Typhoon Pedring has caused a stir among Filipino netizens, inspring its own meme, a Facebook fan page, and even making it to national news.Reported by AltairThis is amazing.
