Disc Sticking
F
I ordered Legaia 2 as a used game and I stuck it into my PS2 as soon as it got here. I was playing along just fine until I go to the fighting tutorial. It came to the part where you use your first healing item. Lang throws it up over his head and his arm stays straight up over his head. Somebody please tell me this is able to be fixed?

Check the disc (I assume you meant it just froze?) for damage like scratches, they disc might be too damaged to get past said part. Also how long did you wait-if the music and junk also froze then yes it's damage, if not, it might just be part of the game (I doubt it but it's happened before).IF the disc has some marks on it, there are places that do disc repair or buy one of those kits, if you had a modified ps2 I'd attempt to copy the damaged disc and use the copy (worked before, copy of simpsons hit and run didn't work at all, copied it, and the copy worked where the real one failed-got full refund and a new game XD)

First of all I wouldn't even begin to know how to mod my PS2. And I've never seen an RPG where somebody hesitates in using a healing item.
T
Likely a scratch, etc on the disc.

You're not going to believe this but I fixed my disc! ;v) All I did was squirt a circle of toothpaste around the back side then gently rubbed it in little circles all around the disc. After that I just rinsed it under cold water wiping the disc from the hole out to the edge then dried it with my linen dish towel. And now I'm playing Legaia 2 just fine! ;v)

Might not hurt to get a lens cleaner for your PS2 if you play it quite often.

I have some special cleaning clothes from the drug store that are like Handi-Wipes for my glasses. Would it be OK to use those on its lens?

I take it is a PS2 slim. I wouldn't actually use "handi-wipes" per say as you do not want to press down on the lens or the housing as you could knock it off alignment you could get a can of compressed air and blast it but don't stick the "straw" nozzle to close, and just "dust" it by squeezing the trigger for half a second at a time.
What I was actually referring to is a type of disc similar to a DVD lens cleaner it has some tiny bristles on the disc and it will clean the lens as it spins. just make sure if you buy one its made for game consoles as well as DVD players you can actually buy a kit that includes a cleaning disc, scratch repair cream (similar to your toothpaste fix without the minty flavor and grit) cleaning cloths and a tiny bottle of spray that acts as a sealant after you use the paste and clean it off, oh and a little tray that holds the discs your cleaning/repairing. works wonders on a variety of discs especially if you buy a lot of them second hand.
...I've rambled on enough.

Toothpaste acts like a disc repair kit, I'm glad you found that out, saves time :D

...Sorry I'm cracking up laughing right now XD
What "types" or "brands" are best to use...
(I can't help but laugh for some reason...)
[me=hYpNoS]falls of the bed laughing but still wants to know the best types to save himself some cash on disc repairs[/me]

I dont know but some will make it worse due to the chemical composition.
M
...hell that might has been the problem I know there was one brand that a bit of grit in it and I blamed it for messing a disc up, never thought about the chemical composition.I heard banana peals work for scratches. Never tried it myself.

You won't believe what I found out! ;v) Our Family Video here in town fixed my disc in their sander and buffer for a lousy two bucks! ;v) Now I've got a disc that once looked like some idiot took a hunk steel wool to it and now you'd never know! ;v) So keep this in mind if you ever have this problem! ;v)

Buffing in some cases just takes a small layer of the disc off.
What it is is the case has layers of dead plastic, the data is the smallest layer, if the dead layer is damaged it can affect the whole disc unless ethier "repaired" (fill in the cracks) or "buffed" (remove a shade of the layer).
They couldn't save my gran turismo 2 disc, too badly damaged, would of been a waste of $5AUD (rip off artist!) if they actually charged.
