Devil may cry 3 won't work on my Laptop with vista

Whoops i accidenlty originally posted this in technical help. sorry. i mean't to post it here. nearly midnight and i was tired

VIII....recently. i got devil may cry 3 for pc. it was a portable version which said you didn't need to install just extract it from the zip file and play. tried it on my PC. works well. but im not much of a PC gamer so i tried it on my laptop, which has vista. major lag graphicly errors, on the lowest settings possible. at first i didn't know why because my laptop has better drivers and stuff. so i looked for a patch and found one. it fixed said it fixed some graphical errors and made it vista compatible. so i got it and ran it and it said i didn't have devil may cry 3 installed, because it was a portable.
is there a way to patch it? like a program that extracts exe files or something? or would i need to get the acually DVD or iso? please help me :'(

yeah some first two levels aren't to bad (around 25 fps) but then it goes to like 10 fps and is nearly impossible to play

the patch you got, was it from the official web site? if so than the game must be corrupt since it was not an original one. I guess you just had to search for the crack of the patch (the crack version must be the same with the patch version), or you could buy the original one. :P

yeah it was the one from the official site. the games not currupt it was in a zip file when i got it and i just unzipped it and played it. so i never really installed it so its not recongnised as being on my computer so the patch said you havent got it installed.
were can i get a crack for a patch? all i can find are NO-cd crack
