Was just curious, Wouldn't using 7zip to compress your files to use less data storage save you money in the long run? If not sorry, just curious if their was a reason behind not using it.

It would save us a tiny fraction yes, but it would also cause a lot more support requests with people who have no idea about what 7zip is. So in the end it really wouldn't be worth it.

...just asking, why would that be an issue-winrar and 7zip programs open those files-I can't see any real issue's unless it's just the time to repack...in which I would understand would be a LONG time.

Doesn't matter if WinRAR can open 7zip. People will see .7z and just say "what the hell is that, I'm confused, I can't make it work!" :)

but you can use 7zip to compress to .7z then rename to .rar
(a lot of work)

It only works because newer versions of winrar support 7zip. It is a silly suggestion and we will definitely not be using it.
